New Map [request]

Ok, i've got rena's new map editor, how do i edit a map? Ive had a look, i dont know all the things it can do.

If you want to edit a map, tell me exactly what you you want to edit on the map, floor tiles? walls? please post different questions in different topics so i can keep all of this organised. Thanks.

Everything... I dont get it.. how can you see the tiles etc.

You cant 'see' the tiles in mapeditor.
The only way for now is to stand on a tile you want the ID for, open the corresponding map into mapeditor, then open the ground tile editor. After that find the location you are standing on and the tile ID.

PRO-TIP: always make a bacjup of a map before saving.

What does each editor do on the drop list menu, I know the basic.

You can tell by their name what they edit...

EG:

Ground Editor edits ground tiles.
Mask Editor edits mask tiles.

The only somewhat unclear one is Tile Specification or whatever, and that just adds special effects to tiles, such as, if you put 30 on a tile as a spec, it will give you the effect like youre walking on the water at the beach.

mask tiles = shadowed tiles

Ok, what are Mask tiles?
I need more detail.
How would you know what shadowed tile to select?
I dont know alot about tiles etc and what makes a map.

same way as finding ground tiles, walk over a tile that has a shadow, type #loc, then open the corresponding map into mapeditor, open the mask tile tab and find the location/ID

im not perfect at map editing but i know a great deal about it.

FYI the best way is just trial and error and post anything ur stuck with in here il try help.

NPC spawn does not work at the moment.

Ah dam, are you serious :s.. Why wouldnt it work? Rena wouldnt release it if it didnt work.

she will add it soon, the reason why she placed the npc spawn in there is so you can look up spawns on a map, and also to show what she will add when mapedit is finished.

Ok, i wont need rena's map editor atm then.
